We started the meeting with some basic information about the group and what we hope to do throughout the semester. Sean began the meeting with an informative powerpoint that described goals and possible events for the group this semester. Then Alex, the club’s VP, gave a quick lesson on the basics of DSLRs. We went around the room introducing ourselves and then took the group photo from above. Some of the events we’re hoping to do are group photo trips, monthly photo contests, fundraising events, SOA Art Olympics, and guest lectures from professional photographers. Each meeting we plan to have a photo “tip or trick” session that will vary in topic each time. Currently we don’t have a ton of details about future events but we are planning to go on a campus photo walk as a group on Saturday, March 16. Additionally, our first photo contest will be due shortly after Spring Break and the theme will be “Escape”, so get shooting and show us how you let off some steam over Spring Break! Specific details on the contest and photo walk are soon to come, so check back often! We’re really looking forward to a fun semester of all things photography and hope to see you there!
